Telangana Police Uses AI for Faster Crime Solving & Response

I was scrolling news last night when I saw something that made me stop. Telangana police, our own Indian police, is now using AI. Not in some foreign movie, but right here in Hyderabad. On 23rd May, DGP C.V. Anand sir announced it officially. Usne bola ki ab police wale roz ke kaam me AI ka use karenge. And for this, they have made a small tech team inside the DGP office. Honestly, I felt proud reading this.

But why do police need AI? Let me tell you a number that shocked me- The Hindu newspaper said, Telangana gets almost 16 lakh emergency calls every single day. 16 lakhs! Out of that, only 4500 calls are real. Only 0.28%. Socho, bechare police wale poora din bas nakli calls filter karte rehte hain. "Hello, my buffalo is missing" type calls. So much time waste. So, AI will do this filtering. It will listen, understand if it is Telugu, Hindi or English, and decide if it is a real emergency. Then only it will send the location to the nearest police van. Simple but life-saving.

You know, Telangana police is already doing this since last year- They made a tool called IntraGPT. It is like ChatGPT but made only for police. No internet. No data leak. A constable can just type "Hyderabad me pichle 6 mahine me kitni chain snatching hui?" and within 2 seconds, it will show all old records. Earlier they had to open 100 files. Now 2 seconds. Then there is C-SIGHT. This one is for catching people who do crimes against children. Police has to check lakhs of bad photos and videos. It is mentally very tough work. This AI helps them to find the criminal quickly. What used to take 2 months now takes a few hours. And the newest one - AI-CopWriter. This one I liked most. Launched on 22nd May by Hyderabad Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar. Suppose my cousin from Odisha goes to Hyderabad. He does not know Telugu. How will he file a complaint? This app will listen to his Odia language and convert it into Telugu and English automatically. 10 languages it supports. No more language problem.

So how will it help you and me- First, data sharing. Earlier if a thief stole a bike in Hyderabad and went to Warangal, Warangal police would get info next day. Now, instant. All screens in control room will show the thief's photo, bike number, everything. Real-time. Second, faster response. There are 330 AI cameras in Hyderabad already. If there is a big crowd or a fight, AI will see it and alert police. Police will reach before things go bad. Third, prediction. AI sees old data - where theft happens mostly at 2 AM, which area is risky. Then it tells police, "Today send more patrolling to Koti area". This is called smart policing. Look, I am from a small town. When I was in 6th class, teacher asked me what I want to become. I said engineer. Today, kids are saying "I want to become an AI engineer for police". That is the change. If you are also thinking about this field, then learning AI is a good option. Courses like AI Engineer, Cyber Security, and Skill Development are in huge demand. Not just in Google or Microsoft, but even in our police department now.

In short, Telangana police is showing the way. Future police will not be just with a danda but with data and laptop. And this future has already started in Telangana. Good to see.
